black silhouette and film strip;

Love a good horror flick?

A company in the US is looking to pay someone $1,800 to watch some of the scariest horror movies ever made while having their heart rate monitored.

The company, FinanceBuzz, is trying to find out if “high-budget horror movies deliver stronger scares than low budget ones.”

More money, more scares right? Maybe not...

The Horror Movie Heart Rate Analyst (how’s that for a job title on your CV?) will have to sit through 13 high and low budget movies while wearing a FitBit to record their heart rate. They'll also be asked to predict the budgets of each movie.

Unfortunately it’s not open to applicants outside of the US but we’re curious to know: have you seen any of the movies on their list and which ones did you think were the scariest?

(After the list we'll reveal the budgets of each one...so keep scrolling.)

The 13 movies

1. Saw
2. Amityville Horror
3. A Quiet Place
4. A Quiet Place Part 2
5. Candyman
6. Insidious
7. The Blair Witch Project
8. Sinister
9. Get Out
10. The Purge
11. Halloween (2018)
12. Paranormal Activity
13. Annabelle

The budgets of each movie

And here’s the list again, ranked by their budget in Aussie dollars.

And yes, those last two are correct, we didn’t accidentally forget to add a few zeroes. Were you surprised by any?

1. A Quiet Place Part 2 - $84 million
2. Candyman - $41 million
3. A Quiet Place - $23 million
4. Halloween (2018) - $21 million
5. Annabelle - $9 million
6. Amityville Horror - $6.5 million for the original movie made in 1979 (the budget for the 2005 version was $25 million just for comparison)
7. Get Out - $6.2 million
8. The Purge - $4.1 million)
9. Sinister - $4.1 million
10. Insidious - $2 million
11. Saw - $1.65 million
12. The Blair Witch Project - $413,000
13. Paranormal Activity - $21,000

We've always boiled eggs in, well, boiling water. It seemed like the logical solution, right? Turns out, it's not!

There is actually a much simpler way to cook up some hard or soft-boiled eggs, particularly if you want to make a big batch of them (think egg & lettuce sandwiches for days, yum).

We just discovered an egg hack we've never encountered before: cooking hard-boiled eggs in the oven *mind explodes*.

It's really simple and from here on in you won't need to waste time watching the stove to make sure the water doesn't boil over. Plus you can bake over 12 eggs at once!

So how do you make boiled eggs in the oven?

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 160ºC.

Step 2. Grab a muffin baking tray, and pop an egg in each section.

Step 3. Bake for 20 minutes if you like runny soft-boiled eggs or 30 minutes if you prefer solid hard-boiled eggs.

Eggs to be baked

What about having to peel those stubborn suckers?

Once the eggs are baked to perfection, unless you're having egg and soldiers, you'll still need to do that wretched thing that you always do when making hard-boiled eggs... peel them.

Fortunately, we've got a hack for that too!

Naturally, there are hundreds of nifty solutions around peeling the shell off eggs, but we think Food52's solution takes the cake.

Simply take your egg when its still hot and add it to a glass of cold water. Here's the kicker, cover the glass and shake it like a polaroid picture - like go nuts! Once the 'shake it, sh-sh-shake it' is done, the cracked egg should "release easily from its shell like when a snake sheds its skin."

If you're cooking up a batch of boiled eggs, we suggest trying another method whereby you crack the bottom of each egg and let them sit in a bowl of ice cold water for five minutes before attempting the stress-inducing-peel action.

Bacon. Those delicious strips of goodness that need no introduction.

But what if we told you there is an easier way of cooking bacon.

So easy, you can even walk away from it and not worry about the endless fallout of being bombarded with randomly shot droplets of hot oil.

TikTok user sidneyraz has a channel dedicated to things you should know before you are in your 30's.

And he's discovered that cooking bacon in an oven works just as good if not arguably better than frying them.

Do you prefer it crispy? Leave it in the oven longer.

Like it without the crisp? Take it out earlier.

So how is it done? Here's the step by step instructions.

How to Bake Bacon in an Oven

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees celcius
  2. Line a baking tray with aluminium foil
  3. Evenly distribute the bacon strips making sure none overlap
  4. Bake in the oven for approximatley 20 mins (your time may vary)
  5. Remove from oven and enjoy!!!

How easy was that! Did you know this? Let us know on Facebook!

The world's oldest living identical twins have been certified by Guinness World Records, and we need to know what their secret to such a long life is!

Aged 107 years and 330 days, the ladies were awarded the record which coincided with Respect for the Aged Day, a holiday in Japan.

Sisters Umeno Sumiyama and Koume Kodama were born on Shodoshima island in western Japan on November 5, 1913, as the third and fourth of 11 siblings.

The sisters as of September 1 broke the previous record of 107 years and 175 days set by famous Japanese twin sisters Kin Narita and Gin Kanie, Guinness World Records Ltd said in a statement.

About 29 per cent of the population of 125 million in Japan are 65 years or older, according to the health and welfare ministry.

About 86,510 of them are centenarians - half of whom turned 100 this year.

Sumiyama and Kodama were separated after finishing elementary school, when Kodama was sent to work as a maid in Oita on Japan's southern main island of Kyushu.

She later married there while Sumiyama remained on the island they grew up on and had her own family.

The sisters later recalled their difficult younger days.

Growing up, they said they were targets of bullying because of prejudice against children of multiple births in Japan.

Busy with their own lives for decades, the sisters rarely met until they turned 70 when they started making pilgrimages together to some of the 88 Shikoku temples and enjoyed being reconnected.

Their families told Guinness World Records that the sisters often joked about outliving the earlier record holders, affectionately known as "Kin-san, Gin-san," who attained idol-like status in the late 1990s for both their age and humour.

Due to anti-coronavirus measures, the certificates for their new record were mailed to the separate nursing homes where they now live, and Sumiyama accepted hers with tears of happiness, according to Guinness.
