They "don't need no education" (or an introduction) but one of the most iconic rock bands of all time has moved to the "dark side" and in this case, it's TikTok.
@pinkfloyd Pink Floyd has arrived #pinkfloyd #anotherbrickinthewall #fyp ♬ original sound - Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd joined the social media video-sharing app this week and in only a few days and 3 videos managed to gather around 59,000 followers, 92,000 likes and millions of views.
One of the posts was captioned with "Pink Floyd has arrived" and it looks like they are well on their way to owning yet another medium.
The arrival coincides with the popular album 'The Dark Side of the Moon" celebrating 50 years since its release.
"The Dark Side of the Moon" was the 8th studio album by the English superstars and was released on the 1st of March 1973. The album dealt with the mental health issues suffered by former member Syd Barrett and the pressures faced by the band since their rise to fame.
The album that is frequently featured highly in many professional charts of "Greatest Albums of All Time" includes tracks like "The Great Gig in the Sky, Breathe, Time, and the iconic "Money".
Most recently (in April) the surviving members David Gilmour, Nick Mason and long time Pink Floyd bass player Guy Pratt teamed up with Ukrainian singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk of Boombox to release “Hey Hey Rise Up”.
This is the first new original music that they have recorded together as a band since 1994’s The Division Bell.
The song was a dedication to the people of Ukraine and proceeds were donated to the Ukraine Humanitarian Relief Fund.

Apple has unveiled a stack of new features coming in its iOS 16 updates for your mobile device including a more personalized lock screen and the ability to edit your text messages.
Lock Screen
The change to the lock screen takes a lot from the widget features on your Apple Watch. Using a special new multilayered effect your photo images are now placed in front of the time on the lock screen, giving the appearance of depth and integration. You can also choose the colours of the date and time giving you more options in designing a look and feel for your device that is more intuitive.
Notifications have been redesigned to roll up from the bottom of the screen so that you always have a clear view of your lock screen design but also don’t miss anything important coming in.
You can also have more than one lock screen and switch between them with a swipe.
Updates to Messages
We’ve all been in that awkward position where you’ve sent a message to the wrong person or spell check has changed a word in your text to make it sound like something rude or crude. The new iOS 16 allows you to edit or recall a recently sent message. So next time you message your friend Rick and accidentally put a "P" in front of it you’ll be able to edit it quickly or just delete the message altogether using “undo send”. This is an absolute game-changer for anyone who's ever sent a regretful text and that has to be all of us.
The final update to messages is that you can mark a thread as unread so you can come back to it later. Also handy for when you are going through your partner's phone and covering your tracks.
Photos
A really powerful tool in photos is the ability to pull the image of something out of a photo and share it in your apps. The AI allows you to tap and hold the subject in an image and separate it from the background to place it in apps like messages. The visual look up feature also lets you translate signs and writing that is in another language.
Updates to Wallet
The need to carry around a physical wallet is soon becoming a thing of the past with the growth of the Wallet App on your Apple Device. The app has just added features like Pay Later, Order tracking and the ability to use your ID in-app to verify your age.
Car-Play
If you use Apple Car Play to listen to iHeartRadio then you will love the new features coming to the device. Modern cars with integrated screens on the dashboard will now have more options to customize widgets so that you have access to weather and music controls. It’s crazy futuristic, and cars that support the dashboard integration are expected to be announced this year.
Work-Life Balance
It’s easy to lose yourself in work when you are at home and should be with your family. Apple recognize this and developed “Focus” that has had a major update. It now connects to the lock screen and lets you tie in your wallpaper and widgets to a particular focus. This means you can shut out those emails and notifications and get back to the things that matter when you are at home.

Greyhounds Thelma and Delores pose with HammondCare CEO Mike Baird and Horsley residents (AAP Image/Supplied by Matt Jewell)
They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but an Australian first pilot program bringing together rescued greyhounds and aged care residents hopes to prove them wrong.
The Hounds Helping Humans pilot is set to be introduced into HammondCare residential aged care homes in coming months.
The pilot will build on previous animal engagement programs with seniors that have been found to greatly improve their quality of life by decreasing loneliness and depression, increasing physical activity and improving socialisation.
It will also include residents living with dementia.
HammondCare Chief Executive Mike Baird said meaningful involvement with everyday life was crucial to everyone's wellbeing.
"What a wonderful outcome if rescued greyhounds can be given a new purpose providing happiness for the those who are older in the community," he said.
Greyhound Rescue President Nat Panzarino said greyhounds were good candidates to assist with wellbeing in aged care services.
They are generally calm in nature as well as being tall enough for people in wheelchairs or confined to beds to interact with them.
"At Greyhound Rescue we know all too well the magic that these incredible hounds can bring to people's lives," Ms Panzarino said.
"What better way to share this magic with more people than bringing greyhounds to where they are really needed - to brighten the lives of people are craving connection and companionship."
A 2013 Australian study found aged care residents with dementia and low mood demonstrated significantly improved depression scores after receiving dog-assisted support relative to human-only intervention.

The Gold Coast is still buzzing following all of the glitz, glamour and excitement of the Australian Premiere of Elvis at Event Cinemas Pacific Fair on Saturday night.
The shopping centre was turned into a massive red carpet for some major Hollywood celebrities, including Austin Butler (Elvis), Tom Hanks and Olivia DeJonge.
Everyone who’s anyone on the Gold Coast turned out for the spectacular, including the Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, Governor Jeanette Young and Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate.
While local, Australian and even international media lined the carpet to grab interviews with all the stars.
Check out just some of the red carpet action here:
Elvis star Austin Butler said it’s great to come back to where it all went down.
“It feels amazing, I’m so happy to be back,” Butler said. “It was the time of my life. It was unbelievable. It felt so good!”
Adam Dunn, who played the bass in Elvis’ band, described what it was like to work alongside Austin Butler.
“I worked very closely with Austin and Xavier Samuel, I consider those guys more than friends – they’re my brothers, for the rest of my life,” Dunn said.
“It’s one of those things where we were all learning together, we were all going through a process of figuring out how we were gong to make this the most real, visceral thing on screen.
“And we went through a lot of blood, sweat and tears to make that happen,” he said.
Chaydon Jay, who played a young Elvis in the film, was also there and says that despite not having a very musical background, it was simply a once in a lifetime opportunity.
“So amazing to be able to bring this person back to life and to be able to find his energy within my own bones,” Jay told Galey and Christo on the red carpet.
“Baz is so incredible, he’s so creative.
“His attention to detail on set, in creating sets and designs and incorporating music, it’s spectacular.
“He’s done an amazing job in this film and I can’t wait to see it,” Jay said.
Host of the red carpet event, Emily Jade, was lucky to be the only one to score an interview with the one and only Tom Hanks.
“He took the microphone and told everyone how much he loved working here, he loves bin chickens, and he loved walking on the beach, and where the sun set, and he could look out his window at Pacific Fair, and learnt all the jargon,” Emily Jade said.
“And he’s eluded to the fact that he perhaps will come back and film again!”
Australian Director Baz Luhrmann couldn’t stop singing the Gold Coast’s praises.
“We love being on the Goldie,” Mr Lurhmann said. “I live around the world but I’ve got family here. And it’s great energy and great food.
“The place crackles with energy. Great food, great young music scene happening. Great arts happening.
“Between Annastacia and Mayor Tate – no matter your politics – the place is so pro-art and creativity and ‘get stuff done’.
“And that’s not everywhere in the world, you know.”
The movie began filming on the Gold Coast back in 2019 before being interrupted by Covid-19, and finally wrapped last year.
It was worth a whopping 900 jobs and millions of dollars to the local economy.
It doesn’t get bigger than Elvis. I’m so proud that @ElvisMovie was filmed right here in Queensland. For our state, this is more than a movie. It created more than 900 jobs - from costumers to caterers, to local cast and crew. @bazluhrmann #qldjobs pic.twitter.com/KgGtZRgWno
