High fashion drama House of Gucci has led the nominations for Hollywood's Screen Actors Guild Awards, scoring nods for the top prize of best cast and for the performances of stars Lady Gaga and Jared Leto.

The awards, voted on by members of the SAG-AFTRA acting union, are closely watched as indicators of which movies will fare well at the Oscars ceremony in March.

Actors form the largest group that will vote for the Academy Awards.

Dark Western The Power of the Dog also received three SAG nominations for actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

But it was shut out of the contenders vying for best cast, as was Steven Spielberg's critically acclaimed remake of musical West Side Story.

The films that will challenge Gucci for best movie cast are Belfast about a family living amid conflict in late 1960s Northern Ireland; deaf community story CODA; King Richard about the father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams; and Don't Look Up, a comedy that is an allegory about climate change.

In Gucci, Gaga plays Patrizia Reggiani, an ambitious outsider who married into the family only to have her former spouse, played by Adam Driver, killed off.

Leto portrays misunderstood designer Paolo Gucci.

Other film acting nominees included Ben Affleck for his turn as a caring uncle in The Tender Bar, Will Smith for the title role in King Richard and Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem for their portrayals of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in Being the Ricardos.

West Side Story received one nomination for supporting actress Ariana DeBose.

The SAG Awards are scheduled to be handed out at a live televised ceremony on February 27, one month ahead of the Oscars.

Netflix Inc scored the most SAG movie nominations of any film studio, with seven in total, while HBO and HBO Max topped the television field with 14 nods.

The television nominations included five each for cutthroat corporate family drama Succession and feel-good fish-out-of-water comedy Ted Lasso.

South Korean dark drama Squid Game landed four nominations.

Crying onion, a parody on onions causing people to cry when peeling.

Cooks will be able to buy "tearless" onions for the first time when they go on sale in the UK from next week.

The Sunion onion is perfect for those with sensitive eyes as well as for cooking in the kitchen with children, the supermarket chain Waitrose says.

Their mild flavour makes them perfect for use in cooking while they can also be used raw in a salad, the firm added.

Waitrose onion buyer Paul Bidwell said: "We understand how appealing tearless onions are to our customers which is why we're delighted to launch Sunions in selected stores and via Waitrose.com from January 18.

"Ideal for taking the tears out of the kitchen, the sweetness of this type of onion lends itself perfectly to a variety of dishes, from salads to hot meals."

The onions are the invention of Rick Watson, a plant breeder working for the German chemical company BASF. He began working on the innovation in the late 1980s, using natural techniques rather than genetic modification to create the unique variety.

The brand said it took more than 30 years of breeding less pungent varieties of onion to find a variety where the vapours released on chopping are not powerful enough to bring tears to the eye.

Sunions said its onions are not a genetically modified product and were grown through an all-natural cross-breeding program.

It said volatile compounds in onions are responsible for the tears and pungent flavour, and the amounts of those compounds in other onions remain the same or increase over time. In Sunions, these compounds do the opposite and decrease to create a tearless, sweet and mild onion.

Sunions, which cost more than standard onions, are already on sale in America but have not been universally well-received.

A 2018 review in the Washington Post said they were very sweet - "sweet enough that you could sit there and eat them like popcorn" - and barely had any scent. Another journalist who tried them said they were "almost flavourless".

BMW used the recent CES 2022 conference to unveil a special feature on a concept car that is absolute proof that the future is here. A car that changes colour via an App on your phone.

It’s just like something out of a Bond film or a sci-fi flick like Minority Report to see a car that can change the colour of its panels from white to black to shades of grey using E Ink technology which is similar to what is used in Kindle screens allowing those devices to display black screens or the paper texture style making it easier to read than bright tablets.

The last time we saw a colour breakthrough like this was with the toy cars “Hot Wheels Colour Shifters” in the late 80s that changed colour activated by water or changed in temperature similar to a “hyper-colour t-shirt”.

So what is E Ink? It’s a new method of changing the shade of the car’s exterior, using electrophoretic technology.

The E Ink technology is actually a body wrap that, when stimulated with electrical signals, uses electrophoretic technology to change the pigment of its surface. At the moment, it only seems the technology can change colour from white to black and shades of grey in-between. This is because it uses negatively charged white pigments and positively charged black pigments, allowing the electrical signals to choose which are shown.

Head of BMW Group Design: "The BMW iX Flow is an advanced research and design project and a great example of the forward-thinking that BMW is known for."

According to BWM, no energy is required to actually maintain the colour once it has changed and it has a variety of use cases other than just being really cool.

One use is for sunlight reflection, so on a hot day changing your car to white to reflect the heat or on a colder day to black to absorb it.

Perhaps you’ve forgotten where you parked in a busy car park. The press of a button could make the car flash and allow you to spot it amongst the crowd.

E Ink would also allow the company to display a readout on the exterior of the car showing battery status or the name of the person driving it. The possibilities are endless.

On a more cynical note, imagine you have just robbed a bank, you could pull into an alley and change the colour of the car to escape the authorities. Not that we recommend this behaviour, plus if you can afford this BWM prototype you probably don’t need to go around robbing banks. It’s just an example.

It’s expected that future technological advancements will allow you to change the car to other colours in the spectrum as well so if you are indecisive on colour selection in your vehicle it could be a great option to drive around in the colour car that matches your mood for that day.

The car is still a prototype and not available for consumer sale yet but is a great glimpse into the near future of automotive brilliance.

Just don’t scratch it, we imagine the repair costs might be ridiculously high.

The first trailer for “Bel-Air”, a reboot of the hit 1990s series, "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" has been released with the announcement of its premiere in Australia on February 14.

Will Smith posted the official trailer to his Youtube page with the caption:

3 years ago, my guy Morgan Cooper uploaded his fan trailer to YouTube, showing how he envisioned the Fresh Prince as a drama. Now, here is the first full look at his retelling of the story that’s always been so close to my heart. Cant wait for you guys to see it Feb 13 on @Peacock: https://pck.tv/3q0Ts7v

The trailer shows the reimagined series which looks to be a dramatic take on the original 90s sitcom, but still leans into the original premise, following Will's complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air.

The series was inspired by a fan-made trailer which was released in 2019 by writer and director Morgan Cooper. The dramatic reimagining of the series caught the attention of Will Smith, who expressed interest in developing the concept further with Cooper and in 2020, it was announced the new series was in production with both as executive producers.

In August of 2021, Jabari Banks was announced to play the main character of Will. Will Smith posted of him surprising the young actor in a video call with the exciting news.

The rest of the cast is as follows; Adrian Holmes as Phillip Banks, Cassandra Freeman as Vivian Banks, Olly Sholotan as Carlton Banks, Coco Jones as Hilary Banks, Akira Akbar as Ashley Banks, Jimmy Akingbola as Geoffrey, Jordan L. Jones as Jazz Simone, and Joy Jones as Lisa.
