Taylor Swift has Grammys galore and now she has a new title: "doctor".

The superstar received an honorary doctorate of fine arts from New York University on Wednesday, blowing kisses as the crowd roared when she walked towards the stage at a packed Yankee Stadium on Wednesday.

Swift joked to the thousands of graduates assembled: "I'm 90 per cent sure the main reason I'm here is because I have a song called 22.

"I never got to have a normal college experience per se. I went to public high school until 10th grade and then finished my education doing home school work on the floor of airport terminals," Swift said in her commencement speech.

The singer-songwriter, producer and director said that she began her music career at 15.

She went on to sell more than 100 million albums and won album of the year at the 2021 Grammys for her album Folkore, making her the first woman to win the category three times.

Swift shared advice with the class of 2022 but warned that "I in no way feel qualified to tell you what to do. You've worked and struggled and sacrificed and studied and dreamed your way here today ... but I will however give you life hacks for when I was starting out my dreams as a career.

"Never be ashamed of trying. Effortlessness is a myth."

Swift concluded by telling graduates that making mistakes was inevitable but "when hard things happen to us, we will recover, we will learn from it, we will grow more resilient because of it".

"As long as we are fortunate enough to be breathing, we will breathe in, breathe through, breathe deep and breathe out. I am a doctor now so I know how breathing works."

Hollywood star Ryan Gosling will be heading to Sydney to film the Universal live action feature film The Fall Guy.

The film is based on the Glen A. Larson television series of the same name, which featured Lee Majors as a Hollywood stunt man who makes ends meet with a side hustle as a bounty hunter.

The project is expected to add more than $244 million to the local economy, the federal government announced on Tuesday, and is one of a raft of big-budget film and television projects set to be produced in Australia.

The Fall Guy is expected to employ more than 1000 local cast and crew, and more than 3000 Australian extras.

To attract the production to Australia, Universal has been granted $30 million from the federal location incentive scheme, as well as $14.5 million from the state government's Made in NSW fund.

Meanwhile Disney will make nine new shows in Australia and New Zealand for release on Disney+ in 2022/23.

The production slate features three dramas including The Clearing, inspired by real-life Australian cult The Family and its leader Anne Hamilton-Byrne.

There's also The Artful Dodger, an eight episode series set in 1850s Australia and based on Charles Dickens' famous Dodger, and Last Days of the Space Age, a comedy-drama set in the 1970s in which a US space station crashes near Perth.

Disney has also commissioned two documentaries on women's football: Fearless: The Inside Story of the AFLW, and Matildas: The World at Our Feet.

The shows form part of a first wave of Australian and New Zealand production, Disney said at the announcement in Sydney on Tuesday, with future shows to be shot locally in various stages of development.

"Disney is undoubtedly the world's most creative storytelling engine, and in this wave of local productions, we've fuelled up our creative processes in partnership with Australian production companies," Disney's Kylie Watson-Wheeler said in a statement.

"The opportunities are endless, particularly in young adult, comedy, and rom coms, which our audiences can't get enough of."

Disney won't put a figure on the overall budget for the new production slate, but notes it has Screen Australia funding for one show, Shipwreck Hunters Australia, as well as money from the WA Museum and West Australian government.

The federal government has committed more than $400 million through the location incentive scheme to attract 33 international productions to film in Australia.

That's expected to generate $3 billion in private investment and create more than 21,000 jobs.

A producer of the movie Rust, whose set was the scene of the fatal accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins last year, says the movie will be completed, the Hollywood Reporter reports.

Hutchins was killed in October when a revolver that actor Alec Baldwin was rehearsing with during filming in New Mexico fired a live round that hit her and movie director Joel Souza.

Souza was wounded but survived.

"We're confident we'll be able to complete the movie," Anjul Nigam, one of the producers, was quoted as saying by Hollywood Reporter.

A representative of Nigam did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Last month, the state of New Mexico fined Rust Movie Productions the maximum amount possible, $US137,000 ($A198,880), for what it called "wilful" safety lapses leading to Hutchins' death.

The company said it disagreed with the findings.

Baldwin, also a producer on the film, has been named in several lawsuits filed in connection with Hutchins' death, including one by her husband.

Baldwin, 64, has denied responsibility for Hutchins' death and said live rounds should never have been allowed onto the set of the Western film at Bonanza Creek Ranch.

The actor also has argued in court papers that an indemnification clause in his contract shields him from personal liability.
