The 2022 Wall to Wall Ride for Remembrance has returned after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.

Serving and retired police officers departed Kiama, travelling through the Southern Highlands and Goulburn, before a moving ceremony at the National Police Memorial in Canberra.

Officers from across Southern Region took part to honour those in the Force who have fallen, all while promoting motorcycle safety.

Southern Region Commander Acting Assistant Commissioner Paul Smith said while it is a fun event, it’s a chance to reflect on comrades who are no longer here.

“This year, we are back on the bike so to speak, and supporting our colleagues and remembering those who we have lost over the years; some of whom have ridden on this ride previously, who aren’t here this year. We are thinking of them,” Acting Assistant Commissioner Smith said.

Commander of Lake Illawarra Police District Superintendent Craig Ireland said everyone, no matter their line of work, should be able to go to work and come home safely.

“We pause and reflect on those who haven’t been so lucky, and we thank them for their service,” Supt Ireland said.

All funds raised during the Wall to Wall ride by the NSW contingent will go toward NSW Police Legacy, who provide care and support to more than 20,000 serving and retired police officers and their families during times of tragedy and need.
