A crime scene has been established after the death of a pedestrian on the Princes Highway south of Nowra on the NSW South Coast.

Just after 5am today, emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, near Jervis Bay Road, at Falls Creek, south of Nowra, after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a truck.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended along with NSW Ambulance paramedics and the man was declared deceased.

He is yet to be formally identified.

The truck driver has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established and will be examined by specialist officers.

Inquiries suggest the man may have been struck by a second vehicle while lying injured on the roadway.

The northbound lanes remain closed with traffic diversions in place.
