Three COVID-19 related deaths reported by NSW Health in the 24 hours until eight pm on Sunday night, including the state's first known fatality linked to the Omicron variant of concern.

The man in his 80s from western Sydney died at Westmead Hospital.

NSW recorded 6,324 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

866 new infections are from the South Western Sydney Local Health District.

579 are from the Hunter New England LHD and there are 35 from Southern NSW.

125 new COVID-19 cases have been reported from Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.

  • 75 cases are from the Wollongong Local Government Area.
  • 27 cases from Shellharbour
  • 18 cases from the Kiama LGA
  • 5 infections from the Shoalhaven LGA

NSW Health has again stressed to get tested and stay home if you have the mildest of symptoms.

Do not visit family, friends or go to social events if you are unwell.

Health officials emphasise to wash and sanitise your hands regularly.

If you are directed to get tested for COVID 19 or self-isolate at any time, you must follow the self-isolation rules.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There are currently 520 COVID-19 cases admitted to NSW hospitals, with 55 people in intensive care, 17 of whom require ventilation.
