NSW recorded 1,007 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night from 108,000 tests.

In the Illawarra Shoalhaven, there has been 70 new cases, down from over 100 yesterday, with Warrawong being specifically announced as a suburb of concern.

The Hunter New England Local Health District, has recorded 31 new cases.

There are currently 1,187 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 229 people in intensive care, 118 of whom require ventilation.

There have been 11 additional deaths with the youngest being a man in his 40s.

Across NSW, 84.7 per cent of the over-16 population has received a first dose COVID-19 vaccine, and 57.8 per cent are fully vaccinated, with the total number of vaccines administered in NSW now 9,489,300.
