Ubisoft’s popular dance party game is back for its thirteenth instalment of the main game – Just Dance 2022.

This is a colourful fun party game that the entire family can enjoy, especially if you don’t mind getting up and having a little boogie. They’ve released the title on multiple systems but we are reviewing it for the Nintendo Switch which is usually one of the best platforms to play it on.

Just Dance 2022 has 40 songs included in the base game including Camila Cabello – Don’t Go Yet and Olivia Rodrigo – Good 4 U. There are all different types of music genres as well so don’t worry Mum & Dad you’ll find some tracks in there that you know really well. There is also the option to purchase other tracks or use the subscription service to access them, the game comes with a free months trial.

The different songs represent difficulty levels so something like the Imagine Dragons hit “Believer” you won’t have to do much other than wave your arms with some stage like power moves while a more uptempo hit may require you to really put your inner Beyonce to the test.

It’s clever how the controls work because all you need to hold is a single JoyCon then get your timing down to a fine art to complete the challenges. Don’t worry if you only have a couple of JoyCons either there’s an option to use a smartphone app that will work the same way.

The game looks and plays very much the same as previous instalments so there are not a lot of huge surprises in what you are getting. The menus have had a big upgrade so navigating your song selection is easier than ever.

Players can create specific playlists which will make the experience even easier and enjoy the different modes like “Sweat” for a solid workout session or “Kids” which simplifies the menu significantly. Even as adults it was worth playing on the Kids Mode especially to get the Disney songs going for the young ones.

There is a lot of fun to be had in Just Dance 2022 especially if you don’t mind forking out the little bit extra to grab the subscription service which is better value than buying individual tracks. The game is fun, colourful and most importantly family friendly with many of the tracks that would not be suitable for kids having especially recorded “Just Dance” versions

Just Dance 2022 is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Google Stadia
