harry potter 20th anniversary reunion

The cast of Harry Potter is set to return to Hogwarts with the exciting announcement of a reunion special to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Harry Potter film franchise.

Harry Potter celebrates its 20th birthday in 2021, with the first instalment, 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' released in 2001.

It was followed by Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in 2002, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in 2004, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in 2007, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in 2009, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 in 2010 and finally Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2011 ten years ago.

The special reunion feature will be available to stream on HBO Max and Warner Media announced Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson will all return as well as other legendary cast members from all eight films. Filmmaker Chris Columbus who directed the original films will also return.

Warner Bros. Pictures says the alumni joining the tribute special include Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, and Ian Hart, among others.

Tom Ascheim, President, Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics said about the reunion:

“It has been an incredible journey since the debut of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone film, and witnessing how it has evolved into this remarkable interconnected universe has been magical to say the least.” 

“This retrospective is a tribute to everyone whose lives were touched by this cultural phenomenon—from the talented cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into this extraordinary film franchise to the passionate fans who continue to keep the Wizarding World spirit alive 20 years later.”

Executive producer Casey Patterson. says:

“There’s magic in the air here with this incredible cast, as they all return home to the original sets of Hogwarts, where they began 20 years ago. The excitement is palpable as they prepare to take their fans on a very special and personal journey, through the making of these incredible films.”

The special titled Happy Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will include all-new in-depth interviews with the cast and also a ‘making-of story’ and is set to drop as the clock strikes midnight on New Years Day, January 1st 2022.
