 avicii levels 10 year annivesary

Avicii’s “Levels,” celebrates it’s 10-year anniversary and a never-before-seen video has been posted of the DJ performing the song live in Ibiza in 2016. It was the final live performance for the late musician who sadly passed away in 2018.

"Levels" was released on the 28th of October in 2011, and became a global hit catapulting Avicii to international stardom. Avicii, born Tim Bergling, created the song using a vocal sample from Etta James' 1962 hit "Something's Got a Hold on Me.”

When he released it, he stated that he did not expect the song to be popular at all but it has become one of his most successful charted singles. It peaked at number 24 on the Australian charts going 4x Platinum, and his album 'True’ reached number one on the Australian charts.

The original music video, released on November 30, 2011, has received over 500 million views (at the time of writing) since being posted on Youtube. Fans have flocked to the comments section of the new video of his final performance, expressing how much the song meant to them. One wrote, "3 years without you and still millions of fans around the globe - a true legend!” And another commented, "The song that changed dance music forever. RIP Tim. 💛"

His Ushuaïa Ibiza concert in 2016 on August 28th turned out to be his final performance as he retired from touring that same year due to stress and poor mental health problems. Sadly, the then 28-year-old committed suicide on 20th of April, two years later in 2018. His third and final album titled, ‘Tim’ was released after his death and peaked at number 6 on the Australian ARIA Charts.

The footage of his final performance of "Levels" was originally intended to be in his 2017 documentary 'Avicii: True Stories' but was removed until its release now. Another documentary chronicling Avicii's journey is due in 2023 which will be directed by Henrik Burman. Burman said about the documentary in a press release, "My goal is to provide an honest and new perspective on both the artist Avicii and Tim’s life. I want this to be a film that surprises the audience and challenges the public's image of Sweden’s biggest international artist of today and, in doing so, also shine a light on what his music has meant to so many people."
