Zegler is the latest female lead to take on an iconic Disney Princess role, following Lily James as Cinderella, Emma Watson as Belle, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, and Halle Bailey as Ariel.
Marc Webb, director of the upcoming film and the man behind 500 Days of Summer and The Amazing Spider-Man, is excited to get her in front of the camera. “Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale,” Webb said in a statement.
Production is expected to begin early 2022.
